MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether the present Comptroller of the Savings Bank is retiring in the near future; and, if so, whether he intends making the transfer of the Irish work to Dublin one of the conditions on which Mr. Lang's successor is to be appointed.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) Mr. Lang retired from the position of Controller of the Savings Bank Department on the 30th September. The transfer of the Irish Savings Bank work was not made a condition of appointment to his successor.
