§ MR. ASHLEYI beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether 297 owing to the separation of Norway from Sweden, the provisions of the Treaty of Paris of 1855 have ceased to apply to the former kingdom.
§ SIR EDWARD GREYThe Treaty has not been abrogated, but it was framed under conditions which have now entirely changed, and His Majesty's Government are considering, in connection with the two countries concerned and other Powers, what steps should be taken for substituting a new Treaty for that of 1855.
