To ask the Secretary of State for War if he will state the number of officers and men in the 3rd Border (Cumberland) Militia, and the number of officers and men in the 4th Border (Cumberland) Militia; and what is the strength of the permanent staff kept up for these two battalions.

The numbers are as follows:—3rd Border Regiment: Officers, 8; Non-Commissioned Officers and men, 432; total, 440 (excluding permanent staff); 4th Border Regiment, Officers 10; Non- † See (4) Debates, clviii., 1119.
