HC Deb 26 November 1906 vol 165 c1242
MR. CHIOZZA MONEY

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the growth of trusts, combines, and price rings in connection with the internal and export trade of the United Kingdom, he can see his way to appoint a Select Committee of this House to investigate and report upon the subject.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

I do not think any useful purpose would be attained at the present time by the appointment of a Select Committee to investigate and report upon the growth of trusts and other combinations generally. As my hon. friend is aware, a Royal Commission has been appointed to investigate the effects of one particular form of combination, namely, Shipping Conferences.
