HC Deb 26 November 1906 vol 165 c1227
MR. CHARLES CRAIG (Antrim, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what was the nature and extent of the injury caused to Government property at Hong Kong by the typhoon; and what sums are to be expended in rebuilding and repairs.

MR. EDMUND ROBERTSON

Damage was done to the Kowloon Coaling Jetty, the extension works, the torpedo range, buildings generally, and the matsheds on the Kowloon Coaling Ground, which were entirely destroyed. The total cost of making good the damage is estimated at £11,445, of which approximately £6,115 will fall upon Navy funds and the balance upon contractors, who are responsible for works still uncompleted.
