HC Deb 26 November 1906 vol 165 c1190
MR. NIELD (Middlesex, Ealing)

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether the work of re-converting the "Renown" into a battleship has now been taken in hand; if not, when the work may be expected to be begun; and whether the vessel is still officially classed as a first-class battleship.

(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robertson.) The "Renown" has not ceased to be a battleship or to be classed as such; but the date on which some of the secondary armament will be replaced, a matter of a few days, has not been decided.
