HC Deb 26 November 1906 vol 165 cc1240-1
MR. T. F. RICHARDS (Wolverhampton, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the detention at Blackwall of thirty-two Chinese as undesirable aliens; and whether he proposes to take steps to discourage such immigrants.

* MR. GLADSTONE

I am aware that thirty-two Chinese immigrants are detained in the Thames because they cannot show that they have in their possession or are in a position to obtain the means of decently supporting themselves. The question of their admission is one for the Immigration Board, and I have no reason to suppose that the Board are not fully alive to their responsibilities in this matter.
