HC Deb 22 November 1906 vol 165 cc978-9
MR. P. A. MCHUGH (Sligo, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been called to the condition of labourers in towns in Ireland in regard to housing accommodation; and whether the Government is considering this matter with a view to legislation.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) In reply to several Questions on this subject earlier in the session, I stated that it is the intention of the Government, at a convenient opportunity, to consider whether any amendments of the law relating to the housing of the working classes in the towns of Ireland may be necessary. I am not in a position to add anything to that statement at present. The matter will not be lost sight of.
