HC Deb 22 November 1906 vol 165 c975
MR. J. P. FARRELL

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, to state the number of applications made by evicted tenants for restoration under the Land Purchase Act, 1903, to their own or equivalent holdings in county Longford; how many of these applications have been dealt with by the Commissioners, and in how many cases has restoration taken place; and can he hold out any hopes of a speedy settlement of these cases by migration or otherwise.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Estates Commissioners inform me that 108 applications for reinstatement have been received from evicted tenants in county Longford. In thirteen of the cases the applicants are outside the scope of the Act, and in three cases the Commissioners have decided to take no action. Sixteen applicants have been reinstated by the landlord, and one by the Commissioners. The remaining applications will be inquired into as soon as possible.
