To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the fact that the unanimous resolution of the Southampton incorporation in favour of the dissolution of the incorporation and the formation of a new union comprising the parishes of Portswood and Shirley was passed on the 18th October, 1906, viz., after the letter of the Local Government Board of the 11th October had been received, stating that one of the inspectors of the Local Government Board had been instructed to hold a local inquiry on the subject; and whether he will say what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) I am aware of the fact about referred to. As stated in reply to the previous Question the Local Government Board propose that a local inquiry should be held as to whether an alteration of area should be made in this case. The Inquiry has been fixed for the 10th December.
