MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

To ask the Secretary for Scotland if he will state whether a charge is made for books at any of the public schools in Ross and Cromarty; and, if so, will he give the names of such schools.

All the information which I can give to my hon. friend is that in five cases, viz., Loch-broom, Ardindrean Public School, Lochbroom, Badcaul Public School, Lochbroom, Ullapool Public School, Stornoway, Bayble Public School, Stornoway, Tolsta Public School, the school accounts show receipts from books or other articles sold to children.
