HC Deb 12 November 1906 vol 164 c1002
MR. CATHCART WASON (Orkney and Shetland)

To ask the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the fact that the whaling operations in Shetland are considered as ruinous to the great herring industry, and that the delay of a year may prove most disastrous, if all parties in the House will support a Bill on the lines of the Report of the Commission, he will consider the possibility of introducing the Bill this year.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) The Government, in proposing the present prolongation of the session of this year, promised not to introduce any fresh legislation, so the course suggested by my hon. friend is not open.
