HC Deb 12 November 1906 vol 164 c1057
MR. HART-DAVIES

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Homo Department whether his attention has been called to the case of a man, named W. Evans, who, in September last, was refused exemption from vaccination for his child by Mr. Fordham sitting in the North London Police Court, though he stated his conscientious objection to vaccination and the grounds for it, and also added, what was the fact, that on precisely similar grounds, on 1st January, 1903, and 5th May, 1904, he had been granted exemption by Mr. Plowden at the Marylebone Police Court for two other children; and whether he will take such cases into consideration in any future legislation.

*THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE, Leeds, W.)

My attention has not been called to the case otherwise than by my hon. friend's Question. Legislation on the subject of vaccination would be in the hands of my right hon. friend the President of the Local Government Board, and I understand from him that in any such legislation cases of the kind referred to would receive his careful consideration.
