HC Deb 12 November 1906 vol 164 c1055
MR. HIGHAM (Yorkshire, W.R., Sowerby)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if His Majesty's Government have given up the hope of inducing the Congo authorities in Brussels to publish the evidence of their own Commission of Inquiry, in accordance with the pledges given to His Majesty's Minister at Brussels before the Commission started its investigations.

THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. RUNCIMAN, Dewsbury; for Sir EDWARD GREY)

We have continued to press the opinion that the evidence should be published.

MR. HIGHAM

Is the Government still pressing it?

MR. EUNCIMAN

The Government have not given up hope.
