§ MR. SEARS (Cheltenham)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the total number of notices of appeal against income-tax assessments under Schedules A, B, D, and E in England and Wales, in Scotland, and in Ireland, respectively, for the year ended 31st March, 1905, the number of appeals which were heard before the local commissioners of taxes in each section of the kingdom, and the number disposed of or settled without personal attendance before the commissioners.
§ (Answered by Mr. Asquith.) The compilation of such a Return would involve an amount of labour quite out of proportion to any useful purpose which, so far as I know, it would serve.
