HC Deb 07 November 1906 vol 164 c569
MR. GINNELL

I beg to ask the Prime Minister if his attention has been called to the Report of the Estates Com missioners for the period ending 31st March, 1906, pages vii, viii, xiii, and xiv, in which the apprehensions expressed by himself on 4th May, 1903, are fully realised; and whether in view of the danger of the continued payment of prices grossly in excess of value, he will at an early date give facilities for the restoration of inspection for value, and of value as a measure of price, as under former Purchase Acts.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

Yes, Sir, I am aware of the passages in the Estates Commissioners Report to which the hon. Member calls my attention. In answer to the latter part of his Question, I would refer him to an Answer given by my right hon. friend the Chief Secretary on 25th June last, in which he stated that the Government were care fully watching the operations of the Land Purchase Acts with the object of deciding whether amending legislation might be desirable. I have nothing to add to that statement.
