HC Deb 06 November 1906 vol 164 c337
SIR WILLIAMBULL (Hammersmith)

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether the director and trustees of the National Portrait Gallery are satisfied that the alleged portrait of Charlotte Bronte is genuine; and, if not, whether any steps can be taken better to safeguard the expenditure of public money on works of art.

MR. MCKENNA (for Mr. HARCOURT)

I have not been able to obtain the views of the trustees, but I am in communication with them; and if the hon. Member will put down his Question again later in the session I hope to be able to inform him of their reply to his inquiry.
