HC Deb 01 November 1906 vol 163 cc1336-7
MR. JOYCE (Limerick)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the fact that telegrams sent to Members of Parliament at their own homes and having to be re-directed to the House, when Parliament is sitting and Members are in attendance, are charged for at an extra rate for such delivery; and whether he can see his way, under those circumstances, to have such telegrams delivered without any extra charge.

MR. SYDNEY BUXTON

All redirected telegrams are liable, if any additional service is performed, to an additional charge of 6d. if the two addresses are within the same town and, if the addresses are in different towns, to the full inland rate. Each London postal district is considered a separate town for this purpose. I have no power to discriminate in favour of Members of Parliament.
