HC Deb 01 November 1906 vol 163 c1348
MR. PICKERSGILL (Bethnal Green, S.W.)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether a new reference has been committed to the Royal Commission on the Care and Control of the Feeble-Minded, and whether, having regard to the fact that the Commission have now been sitting for two rears and to the necessity for action, he will represent to the Commission the desirability of reporting forthwith on the matters originally referred to them.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

My hon. friend will have seen in the Press that the original reference of the Royal Commission on the Care and Control of the Feeble-Minded has been extended. The procedure of a Royal Commission is a matter to be determined only by itself, but I have no reason to believe that the extended reference will cause any great delay in the issue of the Report of this Commission.
