§ MR. CLAUDE HAYI beg to ask the Postmaster-General what steps he proposes to take to prevent betting by telephone over the telephone systems controlled by the Post Office.
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONIt would not be possible to prevent the use of a telephone system for the purpose of betting, without instituting a general censorship by means of a staff employed in listening to all conversations, who would also have to decide what was and what was not a betting transaction. I am afraid I do not see my way to undertake such a responsibility.
