§ MR. BILLSON (Staffordshire, N.W.)I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General whether he will take steps to ensure the attention of the Public Prosecutor being called to a scheme for distributing a sum, said to be £1,000 weekly, to certain holders of tram and bus tickets, with the view to ascertaining whether such scheme is a breach of the Lottery Acts.
§ THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir JOHN WALTON, Leeds, S.)was understood to say that he was in communication with the Public Prosecutor, who had taken advice upon the matter. He had been advised that in an analogous case it was held that no breach of the Lottery Acts had been committed, and that view had been taken by a magistrate of the City of London.
