§ MR. BENNETT (Oxfordshire, Woodstock)I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, owing to the crowded state of the Natal gaols, which are filled with political prisoners, 250 long-sentence prisoners have been sent to Kimberley; and, if so, whether these prisoners are to be set to work in the De Beers mines.
§ MR. RUNCIMANThe Secretary of State has no information in regard to the matter, which is one for which the Government of Natal alone has responsibility.
