SLOANTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether it is the intention of the Commissioners of Education to deprive principal teachers of national schools from receiving any increase of salary whose average attendance of pupils is under fifty; and, if so, will he say why.
Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Commissioners of National Education inform me that the answer is in the negative. Principal teachers in schools with an average attendance of less than fifty may be promoted to the second grade and advanced to the maximum, salary of that grade.
