HC Deb 22 May 1906 vol 157 cc1129-30
DR. RUTHERFORD (Middlesex, Brentford)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of recent occurrences, His Majesty's Government intend to revise the relations between Egypt and the Sultan of Turkey; and, if so, whether they will consider the desirability of terminating the tribute.

SIR EDWARD GREY

His Majesty's Government do not desire to raise these questions, and as a matter of fact the Egyptian tribute is entirely pledged to British and Foreign holders of Turkish bonds, and is remitted direct to them.
