HC Deb 22 May 1906 vol 157 c1136
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the character of the Report on the working of the motor fishing boat "Pioneer," purchased by the Congested Districts Board (Scotland), steps will be taken by the Congested Districts Board (Ireland) to get a few such boats for the fishermen on the South and West Coast of Ireland.

MR. BRYCE

The Congested Districts Board have had the Report in question under their consideration. They are not at present prepared to recommend the use of paraffin or petrol motors in the larger fishing boats on the West Coast of Ireland. They understand, however, that the Department of Agriculture have enabled the crew of a small fishing boat to procure a motor, and they will watch the result of the experiment.
