To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether the fees received by the Public Works Loan Committee do not more than cover the expense.

(Answered by Mr. Asquith.) From 1898–9 to 1903–4 the fees received by the Public Works Loan Commissioners considerably exceeded the entire expenses of the establishment. Since the latter date the receipts from fees have fallen off, as a result of the restrictions which have been placed upon the making of new loans, and they do not at present cover the expenses.
