HC Deb 21 May 1906 vol 157 c941
MR. BOTTOMLEY

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether, in view of the fact that the Criminal Appeal Bill was read a second time in another place on March 17th last, he can add anything to the information already given as to the prospects of such measure being passed into law during the present session.

SIR H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

No, Sir, I have no further information to give. It is not in the power of the Government, at this period of the session, to pledge themselves and to pledge the House of Commons as to the passing of any particular measure. We shall do our best to pass this Bill, but of course our success will depend, in a large degree, on whether the House is willing to dispense with any lengthy discussion.
