§ SIR PHILIP MAGNUS (London University)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is prepared to make any statement as to the appointment of a Royal Commission to consider the working of the Act under which experiments on animals are permitted for the purposes of medical research.
§ ME. GLADSTONEIn view of the fact that no inquiry into the subject has-been held for thirty years, it is the intention of the Government to recommend the appointment of a Royal Commission to examine the working of the Cruelty: To Animals Act in the light of present scientific knowledge.
