§ MR. REESI beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether the administration of the new province of Eastern Bengal is identical in type and character with and similar, as regards the laws in force, the manner in which and; the personnel by which they are administered, to the old province of Bengal before its subdivision: whether he has any official information showing that the dissatisfaction which is manifested by the richer, the upper, and the student classes in Eastern Bengal extends to the masses of the people; and, if so, in what way it is believed that they are affected by the change, and in what manner they have given expression to their dissatisfaction.
§ MR. MORLEYThe answer to the first paragraph of the Question is in the affirmative. I have no official information which loads me to think that the mass of the population of Eastern Bengal regard the recent administrative changes with dissatisfaction.
