To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he † See (4) Debates, clvi., 1305–6. is prepared to extend to Bernard Collumb, of Granard, who deserted from his regiment in 1901, an indemnity from arrest and prosecution on payment of the fine prescribed in cases of soldiers purchasing their discharge.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The reply is in the negative. The Army Council can make no terms with men in. a state of desertion.
