§ MR. W. F. D. SMITH (Strand, West minster)To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can now give any further, information with reference to the circumstances under which Second Class Master-Gunner Metherell was requested to claim his discharge.
(answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) On inquiry it appears that this man was granted an exemplary character on discharge in error. I regret, therefore, that, under the circumstances, he cannot be permitted to rejoin the Army.
