HC Deb 07 May 1906 vol 156 c998
MR. MURPHY (Kerry, E.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Morrogh Bernard estate, county Kerry, has yet come before the Estates Commissioners in connection with proceedings for sale; whether he is aware that no settlement has been carried out for the reinstatement of some evicted tenants whose farms are still vacant; and whether he will take steps to prevent any sale being sanctioned on this estate until all the evicted tenants are satisfactorily dealt with.

MR. BRYCE

The Estates Commissioners inform me that an originating application in respect of the sale of this estate was lodged with them on January 2nd, 1906. The Commissioners I have been in communication with the vendor upon the subject of the restoration of the evicted tenants, and the applications of these persons have been referred to an inspector for inquiry and report. The inspector's report has not yet been considered by the Commissioners, and in the meantime they are unable to say what action they will take in the matter.
