HC Deb 03 May 1906 vol 156 c716
Mr. BOTTOMLEY

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can state the number of persons who have been released from prison, or whose sentences have been modified upon the advice of the Home Office, since the release of Mr. Adolf Beck; and whether he will give the names of the judges or magistrates by whom such persons were sentenced.

* THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE,) Leeds, W.

The Judicial Statistics give, every year, the numbers of, and some particulars relating to, the cases in which the prerogative of mercy is exercised on the advice of the Secretary of State; but I cannot undertake to give the names of the Judges and of the magistrates composing the Courts by whom these prisoners were sentenced.
