HC Deb 03 May 1906 vol 156 c733
MR. VINCENT KENNEDY (Cavan, W.)

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General for Ireland whether, seeing the manner in which the Poor Prisoners' Defence Act of 1904 is working in England, and in view of the desirability of introducing similar provisions in Ireland, he will have this humane statute extended to that country at an early date.

THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. CHERRT,) Liverpool, Exchange

I agree with the hon. Member as to the desirability of extending the Poor Prisoners' Defence Act of 1903 to Ireland, but in the present state of Parliamentary business I fear I cannot make any promise to introduce a Bill dealing with the subject.
