HC Deb 02 May 1906 vol 156 cc568-9
MR. GINNELL (Westmeath, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland will an inspection and comparison be made of the Reports furnished by inspectors on behalf of the Estates Commissioners, with a view to identifying those in whose connection purchasers are now in default discovering substantial differences between the results and those which would have been reached under the present instructions, making amends wherever substantial injustice has been done, and dispensing with the services of inspectors whose Reports led to that injustice.

MR. BRYCE

I must remind the hon. Member that when once an advance has been made, no alteration in the amount of the annuity can be made on the grounds that the sum advanced is in excess of the value of the holding. The Estates Commissioners, however, inform me that if they should have reason to believe that any serious errors in reporting as to security were attributable to any of their inspectors, they would make such inquiries and take such action as they should consider necessary.
