HAY MORGAN (Cornwall, Truro)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether the contractor for the Keyham extension works was under contract to use British granite; and that he was subsequently permitted to use granite imported from Norway; and, if so, whether the original contract price was altered by the permission to use Norwegian granite.
§ MR. LAMBERTThe contract for the Keyham Dockyard extension did not stipulate that British granite was to be used; and the contractor was therefore entitled to use foreign granite provided its quality was satisfactory.
