To ask the Secretary of State for War what are the duties in peace and on mobilisation of the colonels of regiments of Foot Guards, as regards the regular service, and what is the estimated value of their annual pay and allowances.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The duties in peace and on mobilisation of the colonels of regiments of Foot Guards, as regards the regular service, are to act as officer commanding the regiment and regimental district and officer in charge of the records of the regiment, in which capacity he is responsible for the recruiting of the regiment and for calling up the reservists of the regiment on mobilisation. The estimated value of his pay and allowance is about £760 a year.
