§ SIR EDWARD CARSONasked if somebody would explain what the Bill was about.
§ THE POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr.SYDNEY BUXTON,) Tower Hamlets, Poplarsaid it was simply to extend existing regulations to places to which they did not now apply. He had not got a copy of the Bill with him.
§ MR. CLAUDE HAYasked if he understood that though the right hon. Gentleman had not got a copy of the Bill with him he proposed to ask the House to read it a second time. He was bound to say that amongst many others he had not had an opportunity of studying the Bill. He begged to moved the adjournment of the debate.
§ Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the debate be now adjourned." (Mr. Claude Hay.)
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONhoped the hon. Member would not persist in his Motion.
§ MR. CLAUDE HAYsaid he did not know what the Bill was for.
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONsaid that that was not his fault; the Bill had been circulated for some time.
And, it being half-past Seven of the clock, the Motion for the Adjournment of the Debate lapsed without Question put.
And the debate on the Second Reading stood adjourned till this Evening's Sitting.
