HC Deb 26 March 1906 vol 154 c816
MR. HAVELOCK WILSON

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that dissatisfaction exists in the office of the Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen with the remuneration of the staff; and whether, seeing that a Committee of Inquiry was promised some considerable time ago, he will make inquiries into the matter and appoint a Committee at an early date to investigate their alleged grievances.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) I am aware that more than one petition has been sent in to the Board of Trade by clerks in the office of the Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen, with regard to their pay and prospects. No promise of a Committee of Inquiry has been made, but the matter has received, and is receiving, consideration.
