HC Deb 26 March 1906 vol 154 cc836-7
CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork, E.)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the Irish Lights Commissioners are contemplating any further reductions in the number of principal lighthouse keepers in their service; and, if so, is it intended to give any remuneration to the keepers whose duties and responsibilities will be increased by these reductions, and who will not have the same chance of promotion.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) I am informed by the Commissioners of Irish Lights that they have not formulated any definite scheme for the reduction of the number of principal lightkeepers in their service, and that they cannot therefore give the information asked for.
