(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The Army Estimates for 1906–7 bear charges of about £230,000 for troops in Egypt, including the Soudan. The total expenditure incurred in Egypt under the Military Works Loan Acts from 1897 to the present time is about £166,000.
