HC Deb 22 March 1906 vol 154 c628
MR. STARKEY (Nottinghamshire, Newark)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether, inasmuch as the annual grant received by some unions is not now sufficient to cover the relief intended to be granted to agricultural land under The Agricultural Rates Act, 1896, he will take steps to have that Act so amended as to again ascertain the amount which should be paid to the local taxation account for distribution amongst each spending authority.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. JOHN BURNS,) Battersea

As I stated on the 5th instant, in reply to a Question by the noble Viscount the Member for the Thirsk and Malton Division,§ I could not undertake to bring in a Bill for the purpose suggested. ‡ See (4) Debates, cliv., 374. § See (4) Debates, cliii., 93.
