HC Deb 22 March 1906 vol 154 c602
MR. MILDMAY (Devonshire, Totnes)

To ask the Secretary for Scotland whether the Government have any intention of acting upon the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on the sea fisheries of Sutherland and Caithness, of which he was a member, and of enabling the fishermen concerned to obtain improved boats by the loan system, so successful in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) It is too early to form a definite opinion on the success of the Irish system, and at present the Government do not propose to resume the system of loans to fishermen for this purpose.
