HC Deb 22 March 1906 vol 154 c617
MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON (Lanarkshire, N.W.)

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the frequent interruptions of cable communication in the West Indies owing largely to submarine volcanic disturbances; and whether, in these circumstances, His Majesty's Government will consider the advisability of extending the system of wireless telegraphy now in use between Trinidad and Tobago to others of the islands also.

MR. CHURCHILL

The Answer to the first part of the hon. Member's Question is in the affirmative. The Secretary of State is aware of the desirability of improving telegraphic communication in the British West Indies; and in considering this Question he will certainly not lose sight of the possibilities of wireless telegraphy.
