HC Deb 21 March 1906 vol 154 cc360-1
MR. J. WILLIAMS BENN

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty when he will be able to announce the revision of the pay of the writing staff of the Royal Dockyards, referred to in page 98 of the Naval Estimates 1905–6, and again in the Navy Estimates 1906–7; and whether the revision will include the granting of the long-standing request of the naval writers to have an opportunity of attaining to warrant rank.

(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robinson.) It is hoped to publish at an early date the result of the inquiry into the pay and position of the civilian writers in the dockyard. This inquiry had no reference to the naval writers, and the Answer to the last part of the Question is in the negative.
