§ SIR CHARLES DILKETo ask the Secretary of State for War whether any Reports as to recent administration of so-called martial law by the British force in Crete towards insurgents should be the subject of inquiry from the Foreign Office or from the War Office.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) Any inquiry as to the results of the administration of martial law under the Consul General, who is not responsible to the War Office, would appear to be a matter for the Foreign Office. From the reports received the administration, so far as the British troops and the section for which they are responsible are concerned, has been entirely satisfactory.
