HC Deb 20 March 1906 vol 154 cc214-5
MR. COURTHOPE (Sussex, Rye)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any information with reference to the evacuation of Manchuria by the Russian army.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir EDWARD GREY,) Northumberland, Berwick

According to the terms of the Treaty of Portsmouth of September 5th, 1905, the evacuation of Manchuria by the armies of Russia and Japan was to commence immediately after that date, and was to be completed within a period of eighteen months. The St. Petersburg Press reports that the evacuation by Russian troops is proceeding.
