HC Deb 19 March 1906 vol 154 cc67-8
MR. LONSDALE (Armagh, Mid.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that a Gaelic football club at Markethill, county Armagh, persistently play football and hurley on Sundays in a field close to the parish church of Mullaback, county Armagh, a district which is almost exclusively Protestant; and whether steps will be taken to put a stop to such proceedings.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) I beg to refer to the Reply which I have now given to the Question of the hon. Member for South Armagh.† See preceding Question and Reply. The football field in question is 300 yards from Mullaghbrack parish church. Football matches were played in this field on Sundays, 25th February, 4th and 11th March. The police have no power to interfere in this matter, but they will use every effort to preserve the peace.
