HC Deb 16 March 1906 vol 153 cc1534-5
MR. GILHOOLY (Cork County, W.)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether it is proposed to fix the salary of the acting physician to the Youghal Auxiliary Lunatic Asylum at £100 per annum, for a limited time; and whether the board of governors are to have any control in determining the amount of this salary.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The power of fixing the salary of the visiting physician to this institution is vested by statute in the committee of management, subject to the concurrence of the Lord-Lieutenant. The Committee have fixed the salary at £100 per annum, with the proviso that the physician may, after eight years' satisfactory service, receive an increase not exceeding £25 per annum. The Lord-Lieutenant, however, has not yet signified his concurrence, owing to the fact that certain temporary difficulties have arisen in framing regulations for the management of the institution.
