HC Deb 16 March 1906 vol 153 c1537
MR. SLOAN (Belfast, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether it is intended to hold an examination shortly for cadetships in the Royal Irish Constabulary; and if there are no head constables eligible to fill these positions.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) An examination for two cadetships in the Royal Irish Constabulary will shortly be held. Under the existing regulations, half of the vacancies for district inspectorships are filled by competition among gentlemen nominated for examination, and half by the promotion of head constables. The forthcoming examination will be in accordance with the regulations.
